Kids, meet Ernie. Mr. Ernie is a regal, gracious Terrier and Chihuahua mix.
He is crazy about barking at the vacuum. He will do anything for pretzel nuggets. Ernie is the absolute cutest.
Although he usually flies into a panic whenever an alarm clock goes off, he is as tireless an ally as any dog could conceivably be.
But one day, Ernie's human discovered he was allergic to dogs, including Ernie. Ernie was dropped off at the shelter, and that is the last time they ever saw each other again.
The past doesn't matter to Ernie. He's ready to start a new life in a new home, right now! Ernie is a friendly, medium energy dog. Ernie's infinitely kind heart makes him the perfect comical companion for anyone. Some describe Ernie as a very sloppy eater and he'll be best in a home where she can get lots and lots of attention.
He is basically house broken, but will have accidents if left alone for too long.
Things You Should Know Before Adopting Ernie
Ernie is a friendly, medium energy Terrier + Chihuahua. Be ready for action. Also, each dog breed has certain traits. Knowing a little bit about your pup's individual personality and breed personality will give you some clues about how to care for your pup.
There's a bit of Terrier and a dab of Chihuahua in this Shelter Pup!
Friendliness: The Terrier is a lively and alert dog. This sturdy, scruffy, little terrier is a good watchdog, and may bark to alert you of visitors. Terriers are extremely agile and can squeeze themselves through very small spaces. Chihuahuas may look small and timid but these pups have confidence and attitude. They are proud, graceful, and dainty. The Chihuahua's favorite activity is being held by their favorite human. This pup may even do tricks to get your attention! Make sure you save plenty of time for your Chihuahua and never leave him alone for long periods of time.
Grooming: For a completely natural look, the Terrier needs to be brushed weekly and professionally groomed twice a year. The Terrier sheds little to no hair and is good for allergy sufferers. Chihuahuas can have long or short hair. Short haired Chihuahuas are low maintenance and only require an occasional grooming. Unlike many other long-haired breeds, long-haired Chihuahuas require no trimming and minimal grooming.
Health: Chihuahua are very healthy but also very tiny. Because they are so small it is important to help them stay safe -no jumping from high places or rough play with large dogs. Chihuahuas are also very sensitive to cold weather and should always be kept indoors.
Exercise: Terriers have great stamina and require long daily walks. Chihuahuas may spend many lazy hours just laying around but they are still considered active dogs and require exercise. Because of their small size, simply running around your house gives them plenty of exercise!
Sorry, but Ernie was already adopted by an International Rescue Hero!
